Job Description
- Role Purpose: Increasingly IDP technology costs are consumption based (eg Cloud, SaaS, CaaS, and Digital Advertising) and this change brings a change in emphasis in the ways technology costs are managed. IDP is looking for an experienced Commercial Analyst with a genuine passion for analysing technology costs, critically examining licencing and pricing models, exploring and understanding utilisation patterns, and making insightful recommendations to reduce the TCO of individual platforms. To be successful in this role you will have a genuine passion for driving business insights into technology costs, applying critical analysis, and identifying opportunities to make a positive financial impact on the cost of technology at IDP. The Commercial Analyst is part of the Technology Management Office and works closely with Cloud Operations team members, owners of consumption-based SaaS solutions, and technology leadership to establish and maintain the environment for consumption cost optimisation. Responsibilities A strong commercial acumen with a background in technology financial management, commercial finance, FinOps, or another similar financial analyst role An understanding of technology, cloud, SaaS cost models and technology cost management techniques Bachelor's or Masters degree in finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology Management Understanding of the core Finance & Accounting principles, basic understanding of the accounting processes (budgeting, accruals, etc.) 5+ years of experience as a technical business analyst or data analyst, Management or Cost Accountant, or FinOps analyst. Knowledge and understanding of AWS pricing schemes Experience with native and 3rd party AWS cost management & advisory tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, Cloudability etc.) Strong skills in using data extraction and manipulation from Vendor portals and data sets. Demonstrative SQL, Python and Advanced Excel skills. Skilled at producing high-quality PowerPoints as effective communications,
