About The Role As an Engineering Manager for the BizTech Data Engineering team at Uber, you will lead a team of talented data engineers to drive the development and delivery of robust data solutions that power Uber's business operations. Our mission is to create scalable, reliable, and efficient data pipelines and infrastructure to support business intelligence, analytics, and decision-making across the company. You will play a critical role in shaping the vision and strategy for the team, setting goals, and ensuring the successful execution of projects that directly impact Uber's growth and efficiency. Your work will enable better insights and data-driven decisions, enhancing Uber's ability to serve its customers and stakeholders effectively. What You'll Do Lead and mentor a team of data engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions. Define the vision, mission, and strategy for the BizTech Data Engineering team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives and key results (OKRs). Drive continuous improvement in data quality, reliability, and performance. Manage project timelines, risks, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. Provide technical guidance and support to team members. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering. What You'll Need: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields prior to people management. 3+ years of management experience, leading engineering teams. Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams. Strong experience with data architecture, data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and NoSQL databases. Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to define and track OKRs, and manage projects from conception to delivery.,
