Job Description
- We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and drive the development of highly scalable, fault-tolerant platform services and database connectors that power mission-critical data pipelines for thousands of enterprise customers. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, supporting seamless data integration into cloud warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, and data lakes such as Apache Iceberg. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the platforms reliability, scalability, and security while fostering engineering excellence within your team. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Lead a team of skilled software engineers, driving the development of distributed backend systems and database connectors at scale. Hands-On Engineering: Actively participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and, where necessary, contribute to the codebase to ensure high-quality delivery. Platform Ownership: Take ownership of critical product lines, ensuring they meet high standards of scalability, observability, and fault tolerance. Process Optimization: Establish and drive metrics-based operational excellence for your team, focusing on performance, latency, and reliability improvements. Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers to define and align engineering and product strategies, actively participating in technical and architectural decisions. Scalability Focus: Design and implement systems that support multi-tenant environments and handle massive data processing at scale. Talent Development: Build and grow a world-class engineering team by attracting, mentoring, and retaining top-tier talent. Key Requirements Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience, including 1+ years in a leadership role as an Engineering Manager, Senior Manager, or equivalent. Technical Depth: Strong expertise in designing and building distributed backend services and cloud-native architectures for data platforms. Scalability Expertise: Proven experience with scale-out systems and multi-tenant environments. Core Development Skills: Proficiency in coding and architectural design, with a strong focus on building resilient, high-performance systems. Data-Driven Focus: Deep understanding of data technologies, metrics-driven operational improvement, and system observability. Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset and experience solving complex technical challenges in high-scale environments. Product Experience: Experience working in product-based companies with a focus on large-scale systems or database/backup platforms. Good-to-Have Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines and data platform technologies. Knowledge of database internals and distributed storage systems. Background in organizations where performance improvements and technical achievements (e.g., reduced latency, improved throughput) were key deliverables.
