- Job Title: Head - Controls Reports to: General Manager Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Controls to lead our controls engineering team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in control systems design, implementation, and management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing a team of 10+ engineers. This role requires a strategic thinker with a track record of fostering innovation, optimizing performance, and driving efficiency in control systems across various projects. Key Responsibilities: - Lead, mentor, and manage a robust team of about 20+ controls engineers, ensuring their professional development and project success. - Develop and execute the strategic vision for the controls engineering department, aligning with the overall objectives of the organization. - Oversee the design, development, testing, and implementation of control systems and solutions to enhance product performance and reliability. - Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, overseeing quality assurance and risk management strategies. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, mechanical and product management, to define project requirements and deliverables. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of control systems. - Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring project timelines and deliverables are met within scope and budget. - Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to control systems, leveraging this knowledge to improve organizational capabilities. - Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of new ideas and technologies that drive business growth. - Work activities require onsite as well as offsite presence. - Support business development efforts by contributing technical expertise to proposals, presentations and client discussions offsite and onsite. - There may be opportunities to travel at client site based on project requirements. Required Qualifications: - A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Automation, or a related field; a Masters degree or equivalent is preferred. - Minimum of 10 years of experience in controls engineering, with a strong background in control systems design and implementation. - At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of 10+ engineers. - Demonstrated experience in project management and the successful delivery of complex engineering projects. - Proficient in control systems software (e.g., STEP7, TIA PORTAL, ALLEN-BRADLEY, MISTUSBISHI PLC and HMI programming, SCADA and ROBOTICS Programming will be added advantage), as well as other relevant engineering tools like E-plan, AutoCAD and languages like STL, SCL. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. - Proven track record of driving efficiency and continuous improvement within teams and processes. - Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to controls engineering.
