- About Us Assist AI is a US based, well funded startup which has raised investment from South Park Commons (SPC). We are building next-generation AI Assistants designed for a specific customer segment where task completion and reliability are absolutely critical. Unlike traditional rule-based systems, our approach leverages Agentic AI and Cognitive Architectures, enabling our assistants to reason, plan, and execute tasks dynamically. The Role: Founding Engineer (Backend) We are looking for a Backend engineer to architect, build, and scale our AI-first platform. This is a founding team role, meaning you will be responsible for both high-level system design and hands-on engineering. Your work will directly impact our AI assistants intelligence, reliability, and real-world usability. This is an on-site role and you can be asked to work from our office in Bengaluru, Karnataka. What Youll Work On Backend Engineering: Architect and implement a scalable, high-performance backend infrastructure for AI workflows. AI Orchestration: Design and build multi-agent cognitive architectures that go beyond vanilla LLM APIs. LLM Integration & Optimization: Fine-tune, prompt-engineer, and enhance LLM capabilities while improving efficiency. Planning & Memory Systems: Develop dynamic planning agents and memory extraction & retrieval mechanisms for contextual AI understanding. APIs & Automation: Build robust API-driven systems to enable AI agents to interact with external tools and databases. Scalability & Reliability: Ensure high availability and fault tolerance in AI decision-making systems. What Were Looking For Must Have: Immediate Joining - Should be able to join within next 15 days Strong experience in backend development - 3-5 years of hands-on experience High proficiency in one of more backend languages (Node.js, Python, Java, etc) Working experience with databases (PosgreSQL, MongoDB, etc) Understanding of authentication & authorization (OAuth, JWT, etc) Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) Solid experience with automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end testing) Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment and take ownership of significant portions the backend stack First Principles Thinker - Ability to solve complex problems from fundamentals, rather than just relying on conventional wisdom. Good to have: AI & LLM Knowledge Experience working with LLMs, Vector DBs, Agent architectures, and fine-tuning models. Cloud & DevOps Experience deploying AI systems in AWS, GCP, or Azure, and knowledge of DevOps.
