Job Description

    Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations and bring exceptional culinary experiences to our guests. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating innovative menus, ensuring food quality, managing kitchen staff, and maintaining a high standard of service in the kitchen. Your expertise in Indian and international cuisines, coupled with your leadership skills, will play a critical role in the restaurant's success. Key Responsibilities: Menu Creation & Innovation: Design and develop creative, diverse, and seasonal menus that reflect the restaurant's concept and appeal to local tastes. Regularly update the menu based on customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and market trends. Ensure that each dish is prepared and presented to the highest standard, maintaining consistency in quality and taste. Kitchen Management & Operations: Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to service standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring all kitchen equipment and facilities are well-maintained. Supervise kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and support staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. Ensure kitchen operations meet food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations. Food Quality & Consistency: Ensure the quality and taste of food served meet the highest standards. Conduct regular quality control checks of dishes and food preparation methods. Monitor guest feedback and ensure continuous improvement in food quality and presentation. Cost Control & Budget Management: Monitor food costs, wastage, and inventory to ensure the kitchen operates within budget. Work with the management team to establish and meet food cost targets. Optimize ingredient use to minimize waste while maintaining high-quality standards. Ensure accurate ordering and timely procurement of ingredients while keeping track of stock levels. Team Leadership & Staff Training: Lead, motivate, and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance. Train new staff and provide ongoing development opportunities for existing staff to improve their skills. Conduct performance evaluations and foster a positive work environment. Ensure kitchen staff adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene practices. Customer Satisfaction: Ensure that all dishes meet customer expectations for taste, quality, and presentation. Actively address any customer complaints or feedback related to food quality and ensure quick resolution. Monitor guest satisfaction through surveys, feedback, and reviews to continuously improve the dining experience. Collaboration with Management: Work closely with the restaurant manager and owner to develop strategies for improving the kitchen's performance and overall restaurant operations. Assist in the recruitment and hiring of kitchen staff. Participate in meetings to align on restaurant goals, promotions, and seasonal offerings. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety standards, sanitation regulations, and health codes. Monitor kitchen staff to ensure all health and safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents or contamination. Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen to meet industry standards. Planning & Special Menus: Create custom menus for special events, holidays, or promotional occasions as required. Coordinate with the management team to plan special food promotions, and seasonal menus. Qualifications & Requirements: Experience: 3-5yrs experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a multi-cuisine or high-end restaurant in India. Expertise in multiple cuisines, including Indian, Chinese, Italian, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern. A deep understanding of traditional Indian cooking methods as well as global culinary techniques. Knowledge of local ingredients, spices, and food trends relevant to the Indian culinary market. Experience in managing kitchen operations, including staff, inventory, food costs, and menu planning. In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations. Creativity and innovation in developing new dishes and presentation styles. Expertise in Indian and regional cuisines, with a strong understanding of international culinary trends. Experience in menu development, cost control, and inventory management. Skills: Strong culinary skills, with attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and taste. Excellent time-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage high-volume kitchen operations. Exceptional communication skills to effectively lead and collaborate with the team and management. Strong leadership skills with experience in managing a kitchen team. Education: A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field is preferred. Certification in food safety and hygiene (e.g., FSSAI certification) is a plus. Personal Traits: A creative and innovative mindset, with a passion for food and hospitality. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
