Job Description
The APAC Data Architect & Engineer is a new key role within the APAC Enterprise Technology team. We are looking for a well-rounded Data Engineer with deep Architecture experience, and a hands-on approach with strong knowledge of SQL, Python, PowerBI, and data warehousing techniques. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in data strategy and delivery of leading-edge business analytics using the latest and greatest innovative BI tools, such as cloud-based databases, self-service analytics and leading visualisation tools enabling the company s aim to become a fully digital organisation.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and deploy robust and scalable data solutions using Azure technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Databricks, Power BI, Fabric, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Work with APAC leaders and global dentsu teams to architect and deliver enterprise data solutions for the APAC region, including setting regional data strategy, governance, feasibility and longevity of solutions, leading to hands-on solution implementation and BAU support.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define multi-market data requirements and implement BI solutions
- Create and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and transformations to ensure efficient data processing, storage, and retrieval. Ensure data infrastructure is scalable, efficient, and aligned with best practices in data management
- Conduct complex business transformations to create dimensional models that serve as a foundation for analytical reporting. Extract, organize, and manage data to ensure accessibility for authorized users across the organization
- Perform data profiling, validation, and cleansing to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
- Perform unit test and conduct reviews with other team members to ensure code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance.
- Identify and implement internal process improvements: automate manual processes, debug inefficient pipelines, and redesign infrastructure for optimal performance and scalability.
- Deliver Technical Design Documents that outline processes, data flows, definitions, and business rules.
- Champion engineering best practices and proactively seek opportunities to automate and construct tools that streamline operations and enhance overall reliability.
- Collaborate with business analysts to understand requirements and use cases, translating them into technical stories and tasks.
- Work independently within guidelines, responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and implementing projects using formal project management and agile methodologies.
- Provide support for existing analytics and Power BI reporting platforms where required
- Coach, mentor, and provide technical direction and training to other APAC Data & technology personnel
- This role will have one direct report (APAC Power BI & SQL Developer)
Qualifications
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence roles.
- 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence Analyst or Developer roles.
- 5+ years of experience using Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data warehousing.
- 4+ years of experience developing data models and dashboards using Power BI within an IT department.
- Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF) Pipelines, SSIS packages, relational database design, data modelling, and data warehousing principles.
- Excellent programming skills in SQL, PL/SQL, Python etc.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing and configuring Azure DevOps & Git for integrating cloud services and establishing CI/CD pipelines.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure cloud services, relational database design principles, data warehousing, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
- Expertise in performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal database performance
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
- Experience using Power BI to visualize data for analytics.
- Delivery-focused with a can-do attitude in challenging environments.
Other key Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge and experience of data warehousing strategies and techniques (e.g., Kimball Data Warehousing).
- Preferred experience in Power BI data modelling and DAX.
- Experience working with finance data is highly desirable.
- Experience in Py Spark, Onelake, Snaplogic, Boomi is a plus.
- Familiarity with agile development techniques and objectives.
- Experience across Microsoft licensing and cost optimisation is a plus
