The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across our production processes. This role is critical to maintaining our product integrity, consumer safety, and adherence to both internal and external quality standards. Key Responsibilities: - Product Inspection & Testing: - Conduct routine inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. - Perform sensory analysis (taste, smell, texture, etc.) and laboratory tests to assess product quality. Regulatory Compliance: - Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, and FSMA). - Stay updated on changes to food safety laws and ensure the company is in compliance. - Assist with the preparation for audits (internal and external), and ensure timely corrective actions are taken in response to audit findings. Process Control & Documentation: - Monitor production processes for adherence to established quality standards and specifications. - Maintain thorough documentation of all QA procedures, including testing results, inspections, and corrective actions. - Conduct root cause analysis for any quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Training & Development: - Train production staff on food safety standards, quality control procedures, and good manufacturing practices (GMP). - Support new product development and ensure that new products meet quality and safety standards before launch. Customer Complaints & Issue Resolution: - Investigate and respond to customer complaints related to product quality. - Develop action plans to address customer feedback and prevent future issues. Continuous Improvement: - Identify areas for continuous improvement in the QA process and work with cross-functional teams to implement improvements. - Assist in developing new QA programs to ensure the highest standards of product quality. Qualifications: Education: - Bachelors degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred. Experience - At least 2-3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role within the food industry. - Experience with food safety systems, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory standards is required. Skills & Knowledge: - Strong understanding of food safety and quality control practices. - Familiarity with laboratory testing, sensory evaluation, and product analysis. - Proficient in using QA software and tools. - Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Certifications (optional, but preferred): - HACCP Certification. - SQF Practitioner or Lead Auditor Certification. - ISO 9001 or ISO 22000 training. Work Environment - This role may require time spent in production areas, which may involve exposure to different temperatures, noise levels, and machinery. - Adherence to PPE (personal protective equipment) protocols is mandatory.
