JOB DESCRIPTION Engineer, Primary Metal -EBCHR The Engineer, Primary Metal - EBCHR (Electron Beam Cold Hearth Remelting) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the EBCHR processes in the aerospace casting manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality aerospace materials, enhancing process performance, and supporting business development activities related to primary metal production. Key Responsibilities: Continuously assess and improve the EBCHR furnace melting process to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. Regularly monitor EBCHR furnace melting parameters such as temperature, pressure, and feed rates to maintain optimal conditions. Implement quality control measures to ensure that the melted metal meets required specifications and standards. Oversee the maintenance and calibration of EBCHR furnace equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation. Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel involved in EBCHR furnace melting operations. Coordinate the handling and preparation of raw materials for EBCHR furnace, ensuring proper storage and inventory management. Identify and troubleshoot any issues or deviations in the EBCHR furnace process, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, technicians, and production staff to optimize overall manufacturing processes. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to EBCHR furnace melting operations, including process parameters, quality inspections, and maintenance activities. Provide training and guidance to junior staff members to ensure competency in EBCHR furnace melting operations and procedures. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness within the Primary Metals function. Desired Candidate Profile Education and Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science, or related field. Experience: 1-2 years proven experience in EBCHR furnace melting or similar metallurgical processes within an industrial setting. Proficiency with EBCHR equipment and processes, as well as knowledge of metal properties, casting techniques, and aerospace material requirements. Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and properties of metals. Proficiency in process optimization and troubleshooting. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to metal casting operations. Familiarity with quality control techniques and standards. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly. Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely. Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to manufacturing operations. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement in process efficiency and product quality.
