Job Description
Position: Assistant manager medical coding
Experience: 7-10 years in Medical coding
Specialty: SDS, IPDRG, EM/ED Specialties
Location: Electronic city, Bangalore
Mode of work: Work from office
Shift time: 4.30 PM 1.30 AM IST
Transportation: Both side cab facility
Working days: 5 days in a week
Mandatory Skills:
- The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of overall experience, with a minimum of 1.6 years of experience as a team leader in coding.
- The Assistant Manager Medical Coding is responsible for overseeing a team of 20-30 coders, ensuring coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and overall operational efficiency.
- The role involves team management, client coordination, performance monitoring, and process improvements to optimize revenue cycle operations and reduce denials.
Job description:
1. Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Lead and manage a team of 30-40 medical coders across multiple specialties.
- Conduct performance reviews, set targets, and implement training programs.
- Ensure team members meet accuracy, productivity, and compliance benchmarks.
- Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring continuous learning and development.
2. Coding Operations & Quality Assurance:
- Oversee multispecialty coding (E&M, Surgery, Denials etc.), ensuring strict compliance with ICD-10- CM, CPT, HCPCS, and CMS guidelines.
- Conduct quality audits and error analysis to maintain high coding accuracy.
- Work closely with denial management teams to analyze and resolve coding-related denials.
- Ensure timely submission of clean claims, reducing revenue loss and improving collections.
3. Client Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for client interactions, handling queries, escalations, and operational concerns.
- Participate in client meetings, business reviews, and performance discussions, providing strategic insights.
- Ensure timely reporting and updates on project performance, coding quality, and compliance adherence.
- Collaborate with onshore teams, clients, and internal departments to enhance workflow efficiency.
4. Compliance & Process Optimization:
- Monitor coding accuracy, productivity, and operational efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, payer-specific regulations, and internal quality policies.
- Stay updated on coding guideline changes, regulatory updates, and industry best practices.
- Implement best practices for coding operations and revenue cycle optimization.
5. Reporting & Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Track and report on team performance, coding accuracy, and productivity metrics.
- Generate weekly/monthly reports for leadership and clients.
- Use data analytics to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Graduation / Postgraduate in Lifesciences
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Medical Coding, with at least 1+ years as a Team Lead (on paper).
- Certification: Coding Certified (CPC/CCS/CPMA) or hold any equivalent certifications from AAPC or AHIMA.
- Must have worked in SDS, EM/ED specialties
- Flexible working in US shifts (4:30PM 1:30AM )
- Capability to audit Claims/Appeals as per the business needs
- Knowledge of Claims adjudication, over payment / underpayment, claims cost management, Coordination of Benefits, fraud, waste, abuse, terminologies related to claims
- Should have a prior client facing experience.
- 7+ yrs experience
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities
- Proficiency with MS Office application - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- US health care (ERISA/HIPAA/State Mandates)
- Preferable Onshore Transition experience
- Awareness of ISO, ISMS & other Compliance and Audit Parameters
- Displays a High Level of Integrity and Maturity
- Displays high level of People Management practices
