Job Description

Role Proficiency:

Ensuring adherence to test practices and process to improve test coverage

This position will be staffed via the Sony India Software Center (SISC), an offshore center of excellence supporting FTG initiatives. The TSI Test Engineer will collaborate closely with TSI Software Engineer Team Members, the wider Future Technology Group Production Engineering Quality Engineers (FTG PE QE), and TSI stakeholders to build scalable automation pipelines and ensure systems are testable, observable, and operationally resilient. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong system thinking, test strategy acumen, and the ability to drive forward both modernization and sustainment efforts across multiple services. As a SISC resource, the engineer will also work in close alignment with FTG team members to meet offshore coordination expectations and deliverablesThe engineer will coordinate high-level test strategies and quality alignment efforts with technical leaders based in Aliso Viejo, CA. This includes driving test planning, prioritization, and execution across cross-functional efforts.The candidate will also participate in requirements gathering, integration planning, and technical discussions with the distributed TSI Software Engineering team based in both Aliso Viejo, CA and Adelaide, Australia, ensuring test coverage alignment and feedback incorporation throughout the engineering lifecycle.The candidate must be comfortable working across multiple time zones, including Pacific Time (PT), Australian Central Standard Time (ACST), and India Standard Time (IST), ensuring active participation in collaborative planning, reviews, and test handoffs across global teams.What You'll Do: Develop and maintain system-level integration and validation tests for cross-service communication across TechOps environments. Lead efforts to transition legacy gRPC-based validation suites to Python-based frameworks for improved extensibility and maintainability. Design and execute load and telemetry validation using tools such as IPFix generators to assess system performance and throughput at scale. Collaborate with platform and deployment teams to ensure configuration fidelity across staging and production-like environments. Create and maintain reusable infrastructure to support automated verification and monitoring of system health signals. Work with QE and development stakeholders to define quality gates and telemetry coverage across the deployment lifecycle. Contribute to design and requirements discussions to ensure testability and observability are considered from the outset. Author clear and concise documentation, including test strategies, onboarding materials, and design rationales. Support ongoing test case design, expansion, and automation focused on system integration, interface validation, and backend stability. Participate in root cause analysis of production and pre-production issues through test enhancement and trace/log correlation. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work independently and self-sufficiently, proactively identifying problems and driving solutions with minimal guidance. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or ability demonstrate equivalent knowledge 8+ years of experience in systems integration, test automation. Proficient in Python with demonstrated experience in building or maintaining test frameworks. Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs (REST/gRPC), and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with containerized and cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes). Comfortable analyzing logs, metrics, and traces to support root cause analysis. Experience with infrastructure-as-code or deployment tools is a plus (e.g., Terraform, Helm). Strong collaboration and communication skills, particularly in cross-functional and cross-timezone contexts.
