Job Description
This senior position is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and support business intelligence data sets and reports. The ideal candidate must possess expertise and have at least five years of experience in designing analytical data models using the DAX language and Power BI. Experience with SQL-based data warehouses is essential. The role requires familiarity with data visualization software programs and related tools. Additionally, experience in computer programming or an engineering background is advantageous.
This role necessitates strong technical skills, adaptability, and the ability to learn quickly. Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis and Visualization: Design, develop, test, and deploy Power BI scripts to produce visually appealing and insightful reports. This involves creating custom visualizations and implementing row-level security on data while ensuring data security through role-based access controls, authentication, and data filtering.
- Data Modelling: Build data models and develop dashboards using Power BI Desktop. Develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards.
- Collaboration : Interact with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand their data visualization and business intelligence needs. Work closely with the technology team and developers to build effective solutions.
- Integrate Power BI reports into other applications to provide enhanced business capabilities. Use advanced level calculations on the data set using DAX functions in Power BI.
- Documentation and Testing : Document the processes used and the methodologies implemented. Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting to ensure the functionality of formulas and visualizations.
- Support and Maintenance: Maintain and support business intelligence data sets and reports. Provide documentation to allow first tier supports to triage issues.
- Training and Guidance: Train and support colleagues in the use of Power BI, helping the broader team identify new features and business opportunities through their analysis. Bachelors or Graduates Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or information systems. :
- A seasoned and thoroughly experienced individual who can bring exceptional levels of expertise in:
- Designing and implementing analytical data models using Power BI (Power Query M and DAX expertise required).
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SSRS essential; experience with other ETL tools desirable (e.g., SSIS, SSAS).
- Engineering methodology experience (e.g., Agile) and any programming experience (e.g., Python, R) desirable. A problem solver, critical thinker, and decision maker
- Comfortable making decisions and leading.
- Familiar with version control.
