Job Description

Requirements:

  • 4/5 relevant IT experience
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Linux+, e.g., CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Experience installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting current and legacy Linux servers and desktops (RPM-based)
  • Expert knowledge of the Linux Kernel and hands-on experience with various Linux distribution: Red Hat 6,7, Oracle Linux 5-7, AWS Linux 2016-2018 and the file system architectures and machine architectures of each Linux distribution
  • knowledge of Enterprise Storage Technology, iSCSI Fiber Channel Switching, NAS and NFS/CIFS, and Data Replication technologies.
  • knowledge of LVM, SAN, NAS, RAID, EXT3 4 Experience with the following technologies: HP servers, VMWare, AWS, Ansible, Splunk, Centrify, IPAM.
  • Understanding of advanced networking concepts and protocols (IP addressing/subnet masks, DHCP, DNS, NTP, etc.) and network diagnostic tools (protocol analysis with tcpdump/Wireshark)
  • Basic familiarity with switching versus routing and VLANs, network load balancing
  • Thorough understanding of systems and network protocols (Apache, Tomcat, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, NFS, TCP/IP, SMTP, IMAP, FTP, SSH/SCP, HTTP, SSL,) and UNIX/Linux system internals (kernel, drivers, file systems, virtual memory).
  • Performance tuning of Enterprise servers is necessary.
  • Thorough understanding of Active Directory principals, management and best practices as it relates to access controls with Linux systems
  • Proficient with bash and other scripting languages
  • Deep experience with vulnerability, patch management and related information security functions using Spacewalk
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with integration of MFA technologies for authentication to Linux operating system
  • Experience implementing and managing linux operating system access policies
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technology: VMware (vCenter, vSphere 4-6 and ESX 4-6)
  • Understanding of database and web application concept and architecture: Oracle, Postgres, WebLogic, Tomcat
  • Understanding of system and storage design appropriate to support Oracle, Postgres databases and WebLogic and Tomcat application server
  • Strong understanding of Linux security principles, defense in-depth, firewalls, IPS/IDS, identity management, authentication and encryption
  • Experience in log management processes using Syslog, Splunk and SolarWinds , a Plus
  • Must have experience in an operational Linux administration role supporting mission-critical platforms, including physical and virtualized environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with systems automation and infrastructure as code techniques in order to increase systems administration efficiency and support using Ansible
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently, but also within a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills is required
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frame work (ITIL, ISO, COBIT) a plus
  • Must be willing to work off-hours/weekends to support operational needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate with customers, vendors, partners and business managers across various levels of the organization.
  • Well organized, attentive to details and able to meet demanding deadlines
  • Candidate must be comfortable for 24*7 shift

    • Responsibilities:

  • Designing, implementing and supporting Linux computing systems hardware and software infrastructure using the following service models: on-premise, managed hosted, SaaS cloud
  • Providing system architecture, implementation, system administration, troubleshooting and operational supporting for an OLTP webapp environments
  • Assisting in developing, implementing and enforcing systems security policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with Security Team to implement and regularly test systems security controls
  • Providing third level escalation for operation problems and incidents
  • Resolving issues within prescribed SLA s and adhering to incident management procedures
  • Performing Linux virtualization implementations, supporting and upgrades
  • Working with application development teams, internal clients and external clients on creating systems requirements, projection and growth
  • Monitoring technology changes, advancements trends and innovations
  • Coordinating and executing changes thru the change control policy and process
  • Part of on-call support rotation team with after-hours and weekend balanced work as required
  • Mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures; contributing to and maintain system standards; creating and maintain documentation
  • Providing support to various end user and developer groups by request. Investigating/troubleshooting issues.
  • Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Adhering to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations
