Global Markets Group is the offshoring arm of Morgan Stanley s Equity businesses in India. It covers functions across IED ranging from those associated with sales, trading, analytics, Strats to risk management.

Primary Responsibilities

The Quantitative Research (QR) group designs, builds and maintains the models which drive the equity trading engines at Morgan Stanley. Our systems are used globally by both internal trading groups and clients of the firm. We utilize systematic, data-driven approaches to understand how markets work and put those ideas in action. The team spans the disciplines of finance, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, machine learning and data analysis, with many team members well versed in multiple areas. We are looking to hire highly talented, creative individuals who are enthusiastic about making a contribution to a leading-edge team, in an intellectually stimulating environment.

We are looking for a System Analyst who have experience in working with large data sets and providing maintenance and infrastructure support of the data systems, applications, and servers. The Analyst will collaborate closely with offshore QR Data team and Technology to support and enhance the features, performance, and data quality of our data systems, applications, and databases.

The expected working hours will be 12:30 Pm (local time) 9:30 Pm (local time)

The key elements of the role are

• Infrastructure, engineering, and operational application support
• Maintenance of daily data jobs and keeping regional data in sync
• Maintenance and management of dataset and models
• Scripting development and automation in Linux and Python

• Managing Linux server hygiene and resource monitoring
• Working with large scale global systems, datasets, and databases

Core Requirements

We are looking for a confident and outgoing person, who has exceptional attention to detail and takes initiative.

• Engineering degree preferably in computer science & information technology with 1-2 years of experience
• An understanding and practical application of software engineer lifecycle and development
• UNIX shell scripting with Python and/or Perl
• Experience with Linux servers, filesystems, and automation setup for regular maintenance tasks
• Working knowledge of job scheduling systems, such as Autosys
• Experience with designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with Git and Jenkins
• Ability to work independently and problem-solve
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Complementary Skills

• Understanding of the financial markets and the electronic trading business
• Working with large datasets and ETL pipelines for data warehouses
• Understanding of KDB+ or other databases, such as Sybase or Microsoft SQL Server
• Familiarity with database programming with q and SQL
• Development in other programming languages, such as Java, C++
• Experience with Cloud services for application deployment and/or data lakes
