At Zomato, SDE III s are pragmatic visionaries who can translate business needs into workable technology solutions. Their expertise is deep and broad. As an SDE III, you will be the service owner and would be accountable for the service life cycle of the product. You will be responsible to ensure seamless user interaction across different services like user and merchant platform, payment and chat services, and identifying the bottlenecks around monetary systems as well as manage the everyday traffic. Apart from this, you will also be mentoring a team of developers and bringing best practices for coding.
Here's what you'll do day - to - day
- Help establish technical standards and drive Zomato s overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and methodologies
- Design and build efficient, sound and scalable systems that are aligned with our business needs
- Up the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing and monitoring
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to leverage the latest technologies, define new platform features and build the technical product backlog
- Prototype creative solutions quickly and be able to collaborate with others in crafting and implementing your technical vision
- Lead a team of talented engineers, who enjoy working on creative solutions, building large scale systems and who thrive in a fast - paced fun environment
- Identify opportunities for process and tool improvements and drive those from concept to implementation.
- Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Discover, design, develop, deploy, debug. Repeat!
Who fits the bill
- Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering experience in working with a significant consumer - facing website or service
- Strong command over PHP / Golang / Java / NodeJS / Python including debugging and performance analysis
- Proven track record of shipping high quality products in high load production environments, world - class enterprise and/or ecommerce systems
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically and tactically
- Strong database design and query writing skills with a commitment to performance and efficiency
- Worked with real time web applications and event driven architectures
- Ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies
