Job Description
Responsibilities :Provide database design, development and maintenance services.
Work on a variety of challenging and complex problems in a fast-paced production environment, both managing the production databases and directly supporting the development teams.
Responsible for database capacity planning and management, performance tuning and system optimization.
Design for high availability, and establish disaster recovery capabilities
Participate in off hours and weekend maintenance activities, as required
Monitor, measure, report, analyze and systematically improve database system performance and uptime.
Create and maintain up-to-date and complete documentation of systems and processes
Meet the needs of the Product Development team, efficiently managing user access and security
Competencies
Strong problem-solving, solution design and strategic thinking
Ability to think from a customer and business perspective, to be flexible and to make smart decisions balancing technical and business considerations
Excellent hands-on working knowledge of database technologies (esp. SQL, Azure SQL, MySQL)
Proven ability to plan and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Extensive experience with production database configuration, planning, testing, implementation, complex SQL query tuning, and issue resolution
Ability to effectively explain, describe or convey ideas in individual or group situations
Ability to be an effective contributing member of a geographically-distributed multi-cultural cross-functional technical team
Experience performance tuning MSSQL and MySQL databases for a variety of environments and user requirements
Skilled at pro-actively detecting, analyzing and resolving database issues
Qualifications :
6+ years of intensive hands-on MSSQL database experience in a production environment.
6+ years experience administering MSSQL on Windows and MySQL on Linux Environments.
Significant experience with MySQL and MSSQL replication, configuration and Management.
Experience configuring High Availability in MSSQL.
Backup/recovery experience including Disaster Recovery planning.
Deep understanding of application stack preferred.
Skilled at securely managing user and application access.
Troubleshoot and resolve SQL server outages as they occur.
Experience performing database tuning and performance monitoring and optimization
Excellent collaborative and communicative skills, with bias for action
Proven ability to work individually, under minimal supervision
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform and or Amazon Web services is a plus
Experience with performance optimization: analyzing, prioritizing and sequencing the most logical measures to take, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes or index/query changes
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to achieve results within tight deadlines.
