Role. Description AirFi is seeking a highly experienced Linux Kernel System Engineer with expertise in Buildroot, Yocto, and openWRT for a remote job opening. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in shell scripting, be a proactive problem-solver, possess a leader's mindset, and have excellent communication skills. Additionally, the candidate should have some knowledge of hardware and be able to read hardware schematics. As this is a remote job, we would expect the candidate to have a reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet workspace and be able to work in the timezone overlapping with the teams in the company. Your key responsibilities Develop and maintain Linux kernel for embedded systems Work on customizing Linux kernel to meet specific requirements of the project Work on Buildroot, Yocto, and openWRT to create custom Linux distributions Work on shell scripting and automation of Linux kernel build and test process Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new features Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand and address hardware-specific issues International travel maybe required Design, implement, and troubleshoot routing protocols such as BGP/OSPF, VPN, IPv4/IPv6, and Firewall Evaluate or review queries to extract data, create standard procedures, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supported Perform complex migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and configurations Make decisions in security and regulatory policies to design and implement foolproof secured network solutions What We Look For Minimum 2-8 yrs of experience in C/C++ and multithreading programming Experience on OpenWRT, Buildroot or Yocto Strong experience in Linux kernel development and maintenance Strong experience in shell scripting Experience working with hardware schematics Experience in routing protocols such as BGP/OSPF, VPN, IPv4/IPv6, and Firewall You Get Bonus Points For Competence and experience in Layer 2, Layer 3 networking, QoS, Network and/or application security expertise (L2/L3 firewall) Understanding of 802.11 a, b/g, n, and 802.11ac, 11ax protocolsWireless controllers and access points management Have an affinity for metrics and data analytics Self-motivated and ability to work independently Openness to international travel Strong communication and leadership skills Affinity with airlines, the most exciting industry in the world What You Can Expect from Us We try to provide opportunities that not only satisfy your creative instincts but also allow you to make a significant impact on the products that we create and the business we are in.
