Job Description

Job Title: Director Workplace Training & Placement (DWTP) Job Profile: The Director of Workplace Training & Placement (DWTP) is responsible for overseeing and executing BSDU strategies related to student employability, career development, and industry engagement. The primary focus of this position is to bridge the gap between the BSDU and industry partners by preparing students with the necessary skills, resources, and opportunities to succeed in their chosen careers. The director works closely with BSDUs Director of Industry Relations, as well as students, faculties, trainers, alumni, industry partners, and all relevant stakeholders to create comprehensive workplace training and placement opportunities that align with the BSDUs mission and the evolving demands of the job market. Moreover, the DWTP will be responsible for building and developing relationships with both new and existing industry partners to significantly impact students" employability and workplace training. opportunities, meeting the objectives as outlined in the policy of workplace training and placement. Roles and Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive workplace training and placement strategy along with policies that align with the BSDU mission, goals, and industry needs and employment trends. Build, develop, and maintain relations with relevant industries, campus recruiters, and established start-ups. Build and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, employers, and professional associations. Stay informed about changes in labor laws and regulations and adjust policies accordingly. Take responsibility for off-campus industrial workplace training/internship and placement. Advocate for the well-being and fair treatment of students during workplace training and placements. Manage student activities, including scheduling interviews, information sessions, and mock interviews. Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance university students" soft skills, interview techniques, and professional etiquette. Coordinate with all university heads and faculties to ensure the smooth progression of industrial workplace training/internships, placement drives, industrial visits, guest lectures, and related activities. Organize, design, and manage corporate events, summits, and career counseling for students. Leverage the BSDU alumni network to create networking opportunities and job referrals. Provide mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities to team members and university staff. Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the BSDU management or competent authority. Key Competencies: Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to align workplace training and placement as per profile of the faculty. Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of industry trends, skill requirements, and job market dynamics. Career Counseling and Guidance: Ability to provide career counseling and guidance to students, assisting them in developing effective job search, resumes, and interview skills. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Relationship Building: Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, employers, and professional organizations. Technology Integration & Data Analysis: Analytical skills to interpret employment trends, assess program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions. Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with various departments within the university to ensure a holistic approach to education and placement. Minimum Requirements/Eligibility Criteria: Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Management/Science from a University recognized by UGC or an equivalent degree from a foreign University; a Masters Degree in these streams will be preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in industry; and 5 years of teaching in an academic institution. A sound understanding of placement activities and the campus recruitment cycle will be an advantage
