Position Overview The Lead Embedded Software Engineer will support the development, integration, and testing of embedded software for the body and HVAC embedded controllers. The successful candidate will be the first and lead for a team of 5 software. engineers. One of the early responsibilities of this engineer will be to guide the buildout of the remainder of the team. The software developed in this role is in support of a portfolio of advanced technology for the other JBPCO business units. Key technologies include (but are not limited to) HVAC for EV chassis, automation in support of typical use cases for the JBPCO products, proximity detection, access control and monitoring, and monitoring / control of other body centric systems. This is a role for a computer science and/or software engineer with 10+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated success in the development of embedded software. Commercial vehicle applications / integrations of these technologies are of particular interest. Essential Responsibilities Work with the systems team to develop algorithm and software requirements in support of the higher level system requirements. Work with the systems and software teams to develop and maintain network communications documentation (e.g. dbc files) Work with the systems and software teams to develop software test plans. Typically, this would be some combination of unit testing, MIL testing, and / or HIL testing. Work with the software team to develop a suitable software testing environment for carrying out software testing. This may include creation of a local, India based test bench and/or creating infrastructure to remote in to a test bench located in the US. Develop (via hand coding in C and/or auto coding) application layer embedded software per defined algorithm and software requirements. Become resident expert in the use of and programming of our in house MCM controller Development (via hand coding in C) of lower level software to properly access controller resources (hardwire pins, communications busses, memory, etc.). Test the embedded software per defined test plan, utilizing the test bench developed for this purpose. Aid in developing infrastructure for software development. Establish software coding standards and core auto code block sets. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering 10+ years of Automotive industry experience, or relevant experience from another industry Demonstrated experience in the development of software in support of automotive applications Demonstrated hands on experience is the lower level programming of microcontrollers and experience with the relevant development tools Demonstrated, hands on experience with hand coding in C Demonstrated experience developing auto code via model-based platforms (e.g. Simulink) Practical experience with Controller Area Network (CAN bus) and tools (Vector CANalyzer, etc) Experienced in software testing and validation Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience making presentations and technical reports Proficient in MS Office Experience with Automotive SPICE and/or CMMI framework and the ISO 26262 standard. Desired Qualifications Masters Degree Automotive industry experience with Commercial Vehicle applications Vehicle electrical integration experience Java programming, and Linux languages for embedded applications.
