Job Description

1. Experience Profile:


  • Minimum Years: 2 Maximum Years: 5

2. Job Description:


The work under this part shall comprise of all the desk work required to be done for operating BIS product certification scheme except the decision making, as allocated by BIS. This work shall involve desk review of the requirements (both technical and procedural) of BIS certification at various stages from application for grant of certification, requests for additional varieties to be included in scope of certification, review of inspection reports, test reports from laboratories, documentation submitted by the manufacturers at any stage for various purposes and putting up cases to the Bureau with recommendations for taking decisions.


Review Documents submitted by the manufacturers as an applicant to obtain BIS certification.

Review Documents submitted by the manufacturers for maintaining compliance towards granted certification. Examples are as follows:

a) Application for Renewal of certification, Change in scope of certification.

b) Implementation of Indian Standards, including any revision or amendment to the specifications

c) Implementation of scheme of inspection and testing contained in the product manuals and adherence to certification guidelines..


Take follow-ups with the manufacturers towards the compliance required for BIS certification including review of inspection reports, test reports received from laboratories.


Review of performance of granted certifications like annual reviews, feedbacks received through surveillance activities (inspection and test reports) and discreet sources.


In certain cases, even after product certification has ceased (expired or cancelled or surrendered), follow-ups with the manufacturers regarding pending actions for a certain duration of time is required.
