Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties

Collecting and testing samples of raw ingredients and finished products
Checking for harmful micro-organisms, such as bacteria and fungi
Making sure manufactured products are of high quality, match specifications and are consistent with product labelling for nutritional content
Carry out food safety surveillance to identify and address the safety hazards
Designing, operating and maintaining quality systems

Qualifications and Skills

To become a Food Safety Officer a candidate needs to have qualified bachelors degree (B.Sc. or B.Tech.) in Food Technology or Dairy Technology or Home Science or Biotechnology or Oil Technology or Agriculture Science or Veterinary Science or Biochemistry or Microbiology or medicine or masters degree in chemistry from a recognized university or educational institution
