Making best possible plan for each radiotherapy patient and evaluate the same keeping in mind the requirements of the Radiation Oncologist and the Machine Parameters etc.
Quality Assurance
Development of QA protocols and procedures in radiation therapy regarding delivery of radiation treatment, radiation safety and control and regulatory compliance.>Measurement and analysis of beam data; and tabulation of beam data for clinical use.>Supervision of radiation therapy equipment servicing and maintenance of records.>Periodic calibration of the dissymmetric equipment, traceable to national standards laboratory.>Acceptance testing, commissioning and quality assurance (including calibration of therapy equipment).>Preparations of specifications for treatment and dissymmetric equipment.>Facility design and planning calculations, in accordance with the requirements of the installation that meets the regulatory stipulations of radiation protection and safety.>Ensure periodic QA is done for all Radiology Equipment too etc.
Radiation Protection and safety
Ensure that the provisions of the Atomic Energy (Radiation Protection) Rules, 2004 or modified thereafter, are implemented.>Advising and assisting the employer and licensee on safety aspects aimed at ensuring that the provisions of the above rules are complied with etc.
Basic Qualification / Education / Vocational Training
1. M. Sc in Physics with Post-M. Sc Diploma in Radiological/Medical Physics OR M. Sc in Radiological/Medical Physics
2. Approval from AERB to function as RSO
Advanced Qualification / Certification / Specialist Training
Minimum 12 months internship in a recognized radiation therapy department
