Job Description
We are executing few senior Academic opportunities with one of the leading Engineering Institute in Bangalore.The openings are as:
1. HOD - Computer Science Engineering.
2. HOD - Civil Engineering.
Job description of Head of Department:
The prime role of the Head of an Academic Department is to provide strong academic leadership.
The Head of Department is required to lead, manage and develop the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of excellence in all its activities.
Responsible for ensuring the educational progress and welfare of students registered with the Department.
To plan and prepare proposals for development of the department.
Involve self and the other faculty in the process of curriculum development, in updating and revision on continued basis to meet the requirement of industry.
To organize the academic workload of the Department (theory classes, Practical classes, laboratory classes, Project supervision etc) as per norms indicated by Principal/Management /other statutory bodies.
To supervise the attendance of students in classes and laboratories and to scrutinize the academic progress of students.
Ensure smooth conduction of examinations in co-ordination with the office of COE (Centre of Excellence). To assist the administration in smooth conduct of the examination/ admission/ house tests/ practical/seminars/disciplinary matters.
To continuously encourage Research, collaborations, consultancy amongst faculty and students.
Prepare departmental Budget, responsible for the effective financial management of the department in accordance with the financial procedures as delegated by the Principal.
Responsible for providing Orientation/Induction to a new recruit in the department
Responsible for faculty/staff development including (i) training, development and career management and (ii) day-to-day management/administration matters, such as leave management, examination duty etc.
Provide in a timely fashion all records and reports required by the College office to comply with agencies like AICTE, DTE, VTU and others
To have regular meetings with faculty/staff in order to assess the academic progress. To ensure that the department is aware of all the policies.
Ensure Safety Objectives/security measures are in place.
To undertake any other tasks as and when assigned by the Principal/Management from time to time.
The desirable are:
Qualifications :
B.E / B.Tech - min 70% aggregate score
M.E / M.Tech - min 60% (preference 70%+) aggregate score
Ph.D Award mandatory
Candidates from preferred branches of Civil Engg: Structural Engg. (higher preference) or Transportation Engg or Environmental Engg.
For CSE - Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computational Thinking, Big Data Analytics
Experience :
Industry experience is welcome
Academic experience - Minimum 10 years in Teaching and/ or Research
Administrative experience - Presently at HOD position from last 2-3 years / total HOD experience is 5+ years.
Preferable candidates from South India- either finished his/ her degrees / have been working as Academician in South Indian Engg. college and comes with good exposure in University and accreditation (NAAC + NBA) - related activities.
