Job Summary:

The AIG catastrophe management function is one of the largest in the industry and employs over 100 professionals worldwide across multiple geographies. Day to day pricing and roll - up is carried out at our Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore, India, and our Corporate Catastrophe Management Group and R&D Groups are based in New York and Philadelphia. Effective Catastrophe Management is integral to the success of the business and our catastrophe modelers play a critical role in managing our global risk appetite.

This role is for a Technical Lead and he/she will be part of the AIG India CoE Portfolio Management team. The candidate will work closely with Account Modeling (AM), Regional Portfolio (RP), Corporate CAT Risk Aggregation (CCRA) and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) teams and will work to deliver catastrophe risk analytics and portfolio CAT reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform AIG s Commercial Line Monthly and Quarterly rollup - explore various data topics to improve the data validation, reconciliation, and reporting by working closely with AM, RP and CCRA teams
  • Contribute to ongoing portfolio process transformation and reporting efforts
  • Help support ad - hoc reporting and investigatory efforts to support Catastrophe Account Modelling and Exposure Management across all major classes of business, particularly Property and Energy
  • Ability to perform quarterly CAT risk aggregation and deliver insightful and actionable reporting to internal stakeholders
  • Support corporate and unit level reinsurance placements, and deliver quarterly CAT data to external partners
  • Ability to handle AIG s Consumer Line requests for ad hoc and monthly modelling runs. Help support Consumer Line team by facilitating requests between the business and the Cat analysts in the Bangalore office.
  • Understand and complex treaty structures to AIG portfolio risks.
  • Provide stakeholders explanation of portfolio results and trending over time, model change impacts, and data quality and limitations and limitations
  • modeling best practices by continually understanding the evolving process within AIG and build process efficiencies
  • Coaching and development of team members - Actively contributing ideas and avenues for exploration where appropriate

Required Experience:

  • Post - graduation or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics or similar analytical major
  • 7 plus years of catastrophe modelling experience - Strong analytical, problem solving approach
  • Experience in using RMS and/or AIR CAT model(s) is preferred
  • Clear communicator, able to structure an argument and explain complex issues in a simple way - fast learning capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Effective time management skills and a willingness to work on multiple projects with multiple stakeholders, in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline - driven environment
  • Excellent SQL skills and a thorough understanding of vendor model data structures
  • An additional programming language (R/Python/VBA) or GIS skills are a distinct advantage
