Job Description


SUMMARY

The Research & Development Developer involves developing, implementing, and maintaining functionality related to the ANSYS MAPDL application and Mechanical product line. The immediate work will be to advance Ansys structure element formulations and finite element method in general with state-of-the-art technology. Other areas of work for this position may include; developing and enhancing MAPDL nonlinear solution, coupled physics analysis, progressive damage models and composite capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review literature and develop state of art algorithms and Finite Element formulations for general finite deformations
Explore and improve thermal - structural coupled analysis by completing the element family and enhancing the solution schemes
Design, develop and maintain features in the MAPDL application according to project requirements and established quality standards
Actively participate in project planning, design sessions and team function
Create development/Unit testing of new features
Participate and assist in defects resolution and resolve reported defects
Interact with project teams across business units to address corporate project requirements
Preparation of development documentation and work with technical writers to prepare release documentation
Assessment and improvement of performance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, civil, engineering mechanics or aerospace engineering with 5 years of experience or Master's Degree in mechanical, civil, engineering mechanics or aerospace engineering.
  • Strong scientific programming background in development and application of Finite Element Analysis techniques is required.
  • Proficiency in FORTRAN, C/C++, Python, Microsoft Visual Studio environment, highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in development of finite element formulations or other discretization methods is required.
  • This position requires the ability to work in a geographically distributed development environment and requires excellent communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in mechanical, civil, engineering mechanics or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with object-oriented programing development is a plus
  • Linux experience is highly desirable
  • Candidates with experience in coupled physics analysis, isogeometric method, composite simulation, damage analysis and material modeling are preferred.
