Context
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic MSF/ Doctors Without Borders is planning to implement a comprehensive COVID-19 intervention in the M/East Ward (MEW), Mumbai (Maharashtra) with the purpose of preventing, diagnosing and treating mild and moderate cases of COVID-19 including management of TB-COVID co-infected patients in a dedicated health facility thereby decongesting the current referral hospital (Kasturba hospital) to be able to focus on the severe cases. The project will also implement OPD/Fever clinic to strengthen screening, diagnosis and testing and WASH and health promotion intervention in the MEW community in close collaboration with the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and other actors.
Main purpose of the role
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions..
Main accountabilities
Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols including rational prescription of medicines
Follow strict infection prevention and control protocol during and post patient care (PPE -Personal Protective Equipment, will be provided to all staff working in the treatment facilities and training will be provided to ensure the staffs are able to carry out their daily tasks)
Follow the duty roster as set by the line manager and proper communication channels
Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood
In case of any comorbidities , ensure proper management with expert opinion from Medical Technical referent
To maintain proper records and proper documentation of patient details in patient files and also participate in epidemiological data collection for COVID cases as required
Participate and update knowledge and skills in this fast evolving situation of COVID as well as conduct trainings if needed
Ensure strict confidentiality during patient consultants.
To be flexilble in gap-filling or participating in anyother activities of the project
To be available on call when required
To be a team player -to coordinate and collaborate with other departments of the project and fellow colleagues
To be flexible to rotate all interventions of the project.

.Required Candidate profile
Qualifications: MBBS degree
MCI/ Maharashtra Medical Council registration mandatory
Experience: 2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training).
ICU experience if present is an added advantage As this recruitment is for a specific emergency response on COVID-19, it is important that staff only apply for this position if they do not have one of the major risk factors for COVID namely existing cardiac complications, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy or age > 55 years.
Duration: 3 Months (Renewable depending upon project needs)
Location: Mumbai Expected Start Date: asap
Due to the current lockdown and the urgency of this position, it is important that applicants live in or around Mumbai. We arrange transportation for our staff.
