Context
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic MSF is planning to implement a comprehensive COVID-19 intervention in the M/East Ward (MEW), Mumbai (Maharashtra) with the purpose of preventing, diagnosing and treating mild and moderate cases of COVID-19 including management of TB-COVID co-infected patients in a dedicated health facility thereby decongesting the current referral hospital (Kasturba hospital) to be able to focus on the severe cases. The project will also implement OPD/Fever clinic to strengthen screening, diagnosis and testing and WASH and health promotion intervention in the MEW community in close collaboration with the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and other actors.
Main purpose of the role
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions..
Main accountabilities
Medical activities
Provide quality empathetic outpatient/clinical consultations to all patients who visit the screening OPD at Shatabdi Hospital/fever clinic in the community .Ensure detailed history taking and proper documentation
Provide management and follow up for URTI/LRTI/other COVID like symptoms and co-morbidity treatment following the protocol for the project.
Arrange referral activities and admissions for patients between referral hospital, diagnostic facilities, speciality center, and Screening OPD/ fever clinic.
IF patients have any other mental health related or social support related concerns then to direct the patient to patient support team.
Provide medical consultation to national staff including the reading of routine medical checkup results as per Policy.
Participate along with patient support team, clinic team, Mobile health Activity Manager, medical technical referent, in providing training, capacity building, and networking for internal/external partners including other NGOs network, hospice staff, hospital staff, orphanage staff, school staff, ART centers doctor on a relevant medical issue.
To participate in daily debriefing post activities with the line manager and participate in periodic meetings whenever organised
Follow the universal precautions including DWBI standard of infection control implemented in the project.
Contribution to the model of care design and improvement
Participate in regular meetings with Mobile Health activity manager for inputs in OPD consultation monitoring tool in collaboration with the medical technical referent..
Contribute expertise in revising and updating medical protocols of the project in conjunction with the mobile health activity manager and the medical-technical referent.
To participate in refresher training for nursing staff in OPD in collaboration with Chest physician
Participate in the project planning activities including future plan of the project and budget planning activities as and when requested by the .Mobile health activity manager/ MAM.Participate in planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation of medical activities in general.
Patient support activities
Involve and contribute medical expertise in developing health promotion materials as and when requested
Provide medical expertise in training/educational activities about HIV, TB, Hepatitis, opportunistic infections, and co-morbidities for patients and their supporting families, NGO partners, and other target populations.
Data gathering, analysis, and reporting activities
Collect all relevant medical data related to patient consultations for HIV, TB, DR-TB, Hepatitis, opportunistic infections, and co-morbidities using available tools and maintain a line list as required and share with Mobile health activity manager.To record all patient's investigation reports (laboratory, microbiology, radiology, consultation answers)and pharmacovigilance tool in the patient file and relevant data tool provided.
To search actively for information both local and external related to HIV, TB, hepatitis, opportunistic infections, co-morbidities, and other public health emergencies.
To participate in any relevant operational research activities, publications, and conferences, including writing publications and providing data analysis
Infection control activities
To follow DWBI infection control protocol in the project premises & in other facilities such as hospitals, diagnostic facilities, etc whenever appropriate.
Required Candidate profile
Qualifications: MBBS degree and Diploma in Tropical Medicine will be added advantage
MCI/ Maharashtra Medical Council registration mandatory
Experience: 2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training). Post-registration experience in Public Health , obs and gynae, paediatrics, A, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery. As this recruitment is for a specific emergency response on COVID-19, it is important that staff only apply for this position if they do not have one of the major risk factors for COVID namely existing cardiac complications, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy or age > 55 years.

Monthly Gross Salary: INR 92,382 and
Secondary Benefits (pro rata) as per policies:
