1.Strong OOP fundamentals (Encapsulation, Abstraction, Inheritance, Polymorphism)
2.Excellent core java skill

3.JDBC (Statement types, Obtaining connection, ResultSet, Drivers)
4.Hibernate/JPA
5.Web Services : Soap, restful, XMLS, Marshalling, unmarshling, WSDL

.6.Design Patterns (Should be able to explain some common design patterns)
7.Analytical skills ability to look at a problem with different perspectives: define solutions understanding the pros and cons of each
8..Agile Methodology
9.Payment / Banking Domain knowledge
