Position description summary:
We are recruiting an experienced professional for the role of Advisor, US-India Liaison, for a donor (hereafter referred to as Contractor) funded WASH program in urban India.
The person will be responsible for managing the US-India linkages for accelerating urban WASH outcomes under this project. She/he will be the key point of contact in strategizing and managing all the US-India linkages under the various tracks of this project. The linkages will cut across government, industry and knowledge exchange. The incumbent will assist in building and maintaining relationships with the various stakeholders in both countries for fostering partnerships that catalyse innovation and entrepreneurship and building long-term US-India collaboration in WASH.
Major duties and responsibilities
- Create a systematic, process-driven approach to partner outreach and relationship management of established US-India linkages
- Work in close collaboration with the Contractor, Government of India and key urban WASH stakeholders to identify likely scope and value drivers for the linkages
- Identify and forge strategic partnership opportunities across key government, industry and not-profit, philanthropic and academic players in both countries to drive collaboration across tracks including technology, behaviour change, capacity building, Monitoring & Evaluation, investments, etc.
- Negotiate and formalize linkages in accordance with requisite regulations and project requirements
- Manage operations of the linkages including internal/external approvals and clearances, and de-scoping and delivery risks
- Advise on establishing and managing appropriate partnership governance structures and communications protocols to support effective partnership implementation
- Advise on creating platforms and forums for synergizing co-design and cross-collaboration efforts between US and India stakeholders
- Monitor achievements under the linkages and document results capturing success stories and learnings
Qualifications and experience:
- Masters degree in International Relations, Business Administration, Management, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related field
- Ten years of experience working in international development, industry or a related field, with a minimum of six years leading partnerships and outreach for a donor, non-profit or corporate
- Demonstrated experience in creating new partnerships including identifying partnership opportunities, brokering and cultivating relationships, designing partnership arrangements, facilitating partner negotiations, and formalizing partnership deal structures
- Demonstrated experience in implementing partnerships, including setting up partnership governance models, overseeing implementation, and supporting monitoring and evaluating of partnerships
- Experience in market-building / industry facilitation approaches to development highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to engage at senior levels in business and development sector contexts, and to build trust-based relationships with senior-level executives
- Experience working with stakeholders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, and an existing network of contacts to draw upon across US and India
- Experience of stakeholder management, outreach and strategic communication
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with donor organizations, governments and private sector
