Job Description

Main purpose of the role


To dispense medication and do patient counseling according to DWBI Pharmacy protocols. Supporting the drug supply management in the designated facilities under the supervision of the Mission Pharmacy Manager of the project and according to DWBI health policies and protocols, in order to contribute in the guarantee of the proper management and distribution of drugs and medical devices.


General accountabilities

  • In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, assisting in the supervision, management and control of the medical stock in the project in order to avoid ruptures, losses and gross overstock of drugs and other supplies and overseeing and monitoring its storage conditions.
  • In cooperation with the Pharmacy Manager, assisting on a monthly basis with preparation and approval of order requests, ensuring they are completed in timely manner to prevent unnecessary orders in between. Following up on drug ruptures.
  • Under the guidance of Pharmacy Manager, preparing monthly orders for pharmacy locations, based on expected patients for next month and/or AMC. Improving and following up the monitoring systems in place, to avoid ruptures. Doing periodic stock inventory and communicating the Pharmacy Manager about items nearing expiry.
  • To ensure that stored stock is kept clean, dry and secure always. To facilitate and monitor regular cleaning of OPD Pharmacy. Managing returned items from end user unit.

Specific responsibilities for COVID-19 intervention

  • 1) Dispensing:
  • To ensure that the drug education given to the patient is in accordance with the current and most updated protocols for DWBI and as per project requirements.
  • Give information regarding expected drug side effects.
  • 2) Stock Management:
  • Prepare OPD Pharmacy monthly orders based on expected patients for next month and/or AMC.
  • Monitor stocks to avoid any ruptures.
  • To analyse stocks weekly and put emergency orders in case of anticipated increase in consumption.
  • Expired drugs should be quarantined. Project Pharmacist manager should be informed for moving it out of Dispensing Pharmacy.
  • Maintain records as per Pharmacy protocol.
  • 3) Ensure implementation of GDP guidelines:
  • To ensure that stored stock is kept clean, dry and secure at all times.
  • OPD Pharmacy is kept clean and tidy to allow for ease of access and safety considerations.
  • To facilitate and monitor regular cleaning of OPD Pharmacy.
  • Manage returned items from end user unit.
  • 4) Security and Infection Control
  • Follow DWBI guidelines always.
  • 5) Emergency Response
  • Availability and flexibility in the case of DWBI emergency intervention.
  • 6) Miscellaneous Tasks
  • Respect the confidentiality of patients in all aspects.
  • Should attend meetings, trainings & other gatherings when requested.
  • Perform any other pharmacy related tasks
  • Flexibility to rotate in other interventions of DWBI in Mumbai

Qualifications: Diploma or bachelor's degree in pharmacy is essential.

Experience: Experience collaborating with local pharmacy systems (MoH and private) is an asset. Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting


As this recruitment is for a specific emergency response on COVID-19, it is important that staff only apply for this position if they do not have one of the major risk factors for COVID namely existing cardiac complications, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy or age > 55 years.


Due to the current lockdown and the urgency of this position, it is important that applicants live in or around Mumbai. We arrange transportation for our staff as long as there is no public transport.


Benefits (Non-negotiable)

Monthly Gross Salary: INR 31,403 and

Secondary Benefits (pro rata) as per policies:
