Main purpose of the role
Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / psycho-social related services in the program in accordance with DWBI standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients
Main accountabilities
- Provide supervision support to counselor in fever clinics.
- Ensure day to day tasks of counselor are completed by having regular catch up meetings.
- Provide supervision support to counselor as per need.
- Actively promote the availability of mental health counseling services in the DCHC.
- Provide post-test counseling sessions to individuals who have been recently diagnosed positive with COVID and admitted in DCHC.
- Provide individual, partner, and family counseling as necessary and required.
- Provide counseling to clients and families in areas not limited to: stigma and self-esteem, dignity, adaptation to the illness and its consequences, social functioning, advocacy issues, relationships, communication, dealing with death and dying, grief and loss, spiritual distress/well-being, legacy work and culturally-based needs.
- Consult and collaborate with the medical team on psychiatric concerns.
- Advocate and support access to community resources, providing information and guidance.
- Conduct psycho-educational sessions as necessary and appropriate. Using counseling skills and education to address any stigma, discrimination of prejudice associated with COVID diagnosis.
- Keep systematic records of work and maintain confidentiality.
- Make regular reports of work to manager.
Qualifications: Degree in psychology (clinical/counseling) or related field essential
Experience: Psycho-social counseling experience of at least 2 years essential. Supervisor experience desirable
Languages: local languages (Hindi, Marathi) and English essential

Monthly Gross Salary: INR 54,277 and

As this recruitment is for a specific emergency response on COVID-19, it is important that staff only apply for this position if they do not have one of the major risk factors for COVID namely existing cardiac complications, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy or age > 55 years.
Due to the current lockdown and the urgency of this position, it is important that applicants live in or around Mumbai. We arrange transportation for our staff as long as there is no public transport.
Duration: fixed-term contract until 31st August 2020 (Renewable depending upon project needs)
