Job Description:

Role

Engineering leads are able to coach a small, local teams setting an example for coding and conduct for all software engineers. They provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members, working with fellow engineers to cover knowledge gaps and identify solutions to problems. They demonstrate and model proactive and thoughtful identification of issues and opportunities for technical improvements

They work directly with end-users to assess and improve products and with product managers to assist with feature-planning. Leads facilitate the work of project managers with predictable estimates, agility, and velocity. They ensure all applications follow best practices, leverage technology effectively, and fit well into existing platforms.

Responsibilities

* Build applications that follow best practices and leverage technology effectively

* Monitoring applications and systems, own and troubleshoot incident responses

* Identifying platform health issues and proposing solutions

* Communicate with other teams, stakeholders, clients, and vendors on technical matters

* Help coordinate team activities to complete iteration goals

* Take on opportunities for teaching, sharing concepts, coaching others, presenting

Skills

* Has at least 5+ year's experience in software development; demonstrating successful design, build, rollout and ongoing delivery of business-critical consumer-facing applications and data pipelines starting from raw business requirements

* Successful experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

* Experience with languages like Python and JavaScript

* Significant professional experience using web application frameworks (Angular, Rails, Sinatra, Django, or Flask) to build high-traffic websites, applications, and services

* Knowledge of pragmatic engineering practices like iterative releases, test-driven development, continuous integration, and the use of version control systems

* Non-trivial experience with any SQL-based RDBMS (PostgreSQL and SQL*Server experience is especially useful)

* Experience with NoSQL data stores (Redis) and asynchronous task processing

* Microservices architecture experience preferred
