Job Description
1) Business Development & Business Strategy
Outline and pursue new revenue-generation opportunities, business approaches, business initiatives and business models to drive organic and inorganic business growth within the core CGD segment as well as beyond the CGD sector within and outside MGL's Geographical Areas.
Evaluate each such approach, initiative and model all techno-commercial aspects with meticulous detailing and prepare / present feasible business proposals to the Strategic Management Group and/or the Board / Committees to seek further directions.
Scan the national market for attractive business opportunities in the CGD sector to help in geographical expansion of the current area of operation through Merger & Acquisition and/ or bidding route.
Scan and evaluate new business opportunities in backward as well as forward integrations, to help achieve improve techno-commercial efficiency in business and reduced dependence on upstream and downstream partners thereby contributing to the top line / bottom line growth of the organization.
Scan local / national / international markets for business opportunities having synergy with the existing business segment like gas / energy / utility for lateral expansion of the organization.
Work closely with Marketing, Engineering, Projects and O&M teams to identify gaps / scope of change in business strategy / market approach / product positioning / external and internal processes through enhancement / upgradation / improvement in technology / equipment / processes, leading a more effective and efficient effort with same / enhanced manpower / skill sets.
Meet customers across all market segments at regular intervals to identify their needs which could be catered to with the help of technical / commercial / process innovations within the organization.
Ensure that self and business development team are updated on all key movements in the Natural Gas, CGD, Energy and Renewable Energy markets in India and globally.
Actively participate in key Natural Gas / LNG / Energy / Renewable Energy related business conferences / conventions / seminars / meetings to keep updated and informed on market trends in India as well as across the globe related gas sourcing, gas related technology products and equipment as well as maintain / establish mutually beneficial connect with all stakeholders of the Gas / Energy industry.
2) Commercials & Regulatory
Gas Demand & Supply Management
Forecast demand and supply based on the gas supply contracts and inputs from Marketing, Project and O&M Departments by building the overall demand from the segmental demand data.
Formulate strategy for supply to the bulk markets, obtain validation from Management.
Prepare approval notes, strategy papers or investment notes, where relevant, for gas sourcing related matters.
Negotiate the terms of all Gas Sourcing Contracts.
Manage the fluctuations in demand, strategize for Spot as well as Term gas sourcing and develop a case for sourcing options by working out the economics and securing approval from Management for execution of the Spot and Term contracts.
Ensure that the contractual obligations are met within the stipulated time to avoid any unwanted liability.
Gas Pricing & Procurement
Procure Natural Gas / LNG / Regasification Capacity / LNG Storage Capacity for meeting requirement of various customer segments.
Formulate and review optimal pricing policies for all customer segments and ensure that pricing of all segments is aligned with MGL's Pricing Policy.
Steer fixation of retail prices jointly with Finance and ensure right pricing for MGL thereby increasing the revenues / profitability.
Ensure that the planned Gas supply and the actual Gas supply are in sync by continuous interaction with the Marketing, O&M and Suppliers.
Act upon the variations in the demand and supply of Gas by taking necessary corrective action.
Reconciliation of the billing data with the supplier.
Regulatory Advocacy
* Advocacy / comments on various regulatory / policy guidelines - provide the comments on relevant draft regulations within stipulated timelines.
* Inter-departmental co-ordination on draft regulation, Policies and submission of MGL's response to the PNGRB / MoPNG.
Liaise with external Stakeholders:
Liaise and co-ordinate with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and other Regulatory Authorities through periodic meetings for the purpose of identifying impending regulations and influencing through advocacy.
Prepare plan for influencing regulations through advocacy.
Proactively scan the business environment and various policy decisions which may affect MGL's business.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and laws applicable to MGL.
3) Business Planning and Budgeting
Prepare, analyse and present the annual business plan / 5 year rolling business plan to the Management.
Track business performance against Business Plan on quarterly basis while incorporating changes in business scenario.
Review MIS reports for Budget Variances with reasoning.
Prepare business performance report against business plans and take corrective actions to achieve desired business targets.
4) People:
Participate in recruitment drive for Commercial and Business Development Departments as and when required.
Coordinate with HR Department to ensure the department is adequately staffed as per the manpower requirements.
Own and develop high potential talent and create a talent pipeline for the Department.
Ensure high level of employee engagement and retention of critical employees.
Instil a performance culture in the organization through driving timely goal setting, monitoring, and performance review.
Facilitate a conducive work environment that ensures high employee engagement levels.
Required Candidate profile
Graduate in any Discipline with MBA or equivalent Relevant
* Total experience of minimum 25 years with 10 years post qualification experience (Relevant experience)
