Roles and Responsibilities

Main purpose of the role

Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

Main accountabilities

  • Assist the medical activities in the OPD /Fever clinic
  • Ensure proper screening/triaging of the patients-fastracking the severely ill/edlerly patients/pregnant women and children
  • To take swab sample of presumptive COVID cases and contacts following strict infection control norms and wearing full PPE
  • To do blood collection if needd
  • To maintain appropriate medical records
  • To maintain the medical stock at OPD
  • To support the drug dispenser in the fever clinic
  • To ensure hygiene levels are maintained as per DWBI level standards by supervising the cleaners at OPD/fever clinic
  • To ensureproper functioning of medical equipments like infra-red thermal scanner, BP aparatus, sthethoscope, pulse oximeter, etc and report immidiately to the nurse superviosr/log maintainence agent for repair
  • Participate in the development of SOP for hygeine in OPD/Fever cliinc along with the nurse supervisor
  • Act as an infection control focal point for OPD/Fever clinic to ensure all staff wear appropriate PPE and follow guidelines.
  • To perform basic medical dressing if required in any case
  • To be a good team player and coordinate well with other fellow team members.

To be flexible to rotate all interventions of the project.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications: BSc (Nursing) or General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) recognized from a Nursing Council of India, ) with Maharashtra nursing council registration

Experience: Desirable working experience of at least two years in the similar field.

Experience in Public Health system / other NGOS will be an advantage

Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting

As this recruitment is for a specific emergency response on COVID-19, it is important that staff only apply for this position if they do not have one of the major risk factors for COVID namely existing cardiac complications, diabetes, hypertension, pregnancy or age > 55 years.


Benefits (Non-negotiable)

Monthly Gross Salary: INR 31,403 and

Secondary Benefits (pro rata) as per policies:

Context

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic MSF/ doctors without borders is planning to implement a comprehensive COVID-19 intervention in the M/East Ward (MEW), Mumbai (Maharashtra) with the purpose of preventing, diagnosing and treating mild and moderate cases of COVID-19 including management of TB-COVID co-infected patients in a dedicated health facility thereby decongesting the current referral hospital (Kasturba hospital) to be able to focus on the severe cases. The project will also implement OPD/Fever clinic to strengthen screening, diagnosis and testing and WASH and health promotion intervention in the MEW community in close collaboration with the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and other actors.

Due to the current lockdown and the urgency of this position, it is important that applicants live in or around Mumbai. We arrange transportation for our staff.
