Vacancy: Operations Manager (India)

We are seeking an Operations Manager to work with our Indian manufacturing partners, and to lead our company operations in India (through our Indian company Urjaa Samadhan). Ideal candidates should be enthusiastic about Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for sustainable energy access, and have experience with introducing new processes to start-up enterprises. You will start a new team for us in Bangalore, and remotely manage our small team in Bhubaneswar and possibly build it out further. You will form an important part of our international team of 14, and work with various clients across the world.
Job Description
This role has two main functions:
[1] Working with our manufacturing partners to manage manufacturing and distribution of Cloud Solar and Smart Biogas products from Bangalore to other parts of India and abroad. This will include devising and improving manufacturing, testing, inventory, and sales processes. It will also involve managing logistics, understanding and obtaining international certifications, import/export licenses, etc.
[2] Managing our existing India operations, and building sales channels within the country. You will be required to supervise and mentor the existing team, assessing customer feedback, increasing quality of customer service, and implement best practice in the organisation.
Ideal candidates will have an ability to create and maintain efficient systems of operation to support the business needs. You will need to be comfortable with working in a mission-driven start-up environment, i.e. self-starting and able/willing to take out a broad remit.
The candidate should be comfortable multitasking and working across geographies and time zones, using communication tools to work effectively with the rest of our international team. You should also expect to represent the company at exhibitions and events throughout India.
We are looking for candidates with 5+ years experience in renewable energy, preferably in rural contexts, and a background in electrical & mechanical engineering. An understanding of manufacturing and distribution within India and abroad is highly desirable.
