Summary:
The Instructional Designer will work with the Project Manager and/or Instructional Developer to create online learning modules and live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training guides, and supporting materials following an instructional design process. The Instructional Designer will use strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video and audio to communicate and educate our clients employees, members, customers, and other stakeholders.
Job Description:
1. Define objectives for a course and/or curriculum
2. Outline the concept for a course or curriculum, defining (needs for) the course medium, content delivery, assessments, accompanying materials, and complementary learning approaches
3. Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and other key stakeholders to identify target audience training needs against required training timelines
4. Design and develop course content including, but not limited to, measurable performance objectives, scenarios, simulations, audio scripts, progress checks, performance evaluations, reference glossaries, and assessments
5. Use PowerPoint to draft Storyboard, screen layouts, graphics and interactions appropriate to the content
6. Write the audio script for each course and work with SME and voice talent to ensure proper pronunciation and style
7. Design quizzes and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention
8. Work with the Instructional Developer, voiceover talent, video production, and graphics sources to produce draft and final versions of each course
9. Work with peer group in production (graphics placement, animations, audio importing & editing)
10. Work with SMEs and course sponsors to collect feedback and integrate it into the next course draft
11. Proof course at multiple stages of development and create or document required changes
12. Work closely with project requester personnel via email, phone, and in person to collect information needed to complete modules
13. Experience in US based school curriculum projects involving LMS
14. Define project schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep track of project tasks and status using SharePoint/other management software
15. Utilize ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick and other recognized models to rapidly design, develop and publish engaging course content and learning activities for ILT, online and virtual modalities with continuous evaluation/improvement cycles for the course content
16. Adapt instructional materials created for one format to another format (usually from face-to-face to eLearning and virtual)
17. Revise and rewrite course content based on data illustrating ROI or efficacy of training modules
18. Keep track of billable and non-billable hours and report them on a timely basis
19. Maintain content confidentiality
20. Complete various training, project management, and administrative tasks within given timelines
21. Keep up to date on learning tools, new trends, and ideas
22. Participate in team brainstorming and strategy meetings
23. Collaborate effectively with peer group and maintain/exhibit positive attitude at all times
