    An Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving business growth, managing channel relationships, and ensuring profitability within a designated region. The specific responsibilities can vary depending on the business vertical, such as Agency Motor, Agency Health, or Key Partnership Group. Below is an overview of the general responsibilities and qualifications for this role:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Business Development: Achieve targets for Gross Written Premium (GWP) and ensure sustainable profitability. This includes driving sales across various lines of business, such as Motor, Health, and Commercial Insurance.

    • Channel Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with channel partners, including agents, banks, NBFCs, and other financial institutions. This involves regular training of partner employees on Tata AIG products and ensuring effective collaboration.

    • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the sales team to meet business objectives. This includes recruitment, training, and performance management of agents and sales personnel.

    • Profitability Management: Maintain the Combined Operating Ratio (COR) at budgeted levels by controlling expenses and ensuring profitable business practices.

    • Client Servicing: Enhance service levels provided to clients to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. This includes addressing client queries and resolving issues promptly.

      Qualifications:
    • Education: A bachelor's degree is generally required. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field can be advantageous.

    Experience: Relevant experience in the insurance sector, particularly in sales and channel management, is essential. For instance, the role of Senior Area Sales Manager - Agency Health requires 5 to 6 years of insurance experience, including at least 3 to 4 years in leading a company or business line in retail sales.

    Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, effective communication skills, and a deep understanding of various insurance products are crucial. Proficiency in strategic planning and the ability to drive recruitment and activation are also important.
