- Designation: Assistant Engineer Updated: February 21, 2025 Location: Maharashtra, India Organization: Metals Job Description: Shift Management & Coordination: Manpower Planning: Manage shift manpower to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production demands. Production Planning Coordination: Work closely with the planning department to understand the next two days" casting production plan. Sequencing Production: Ensure efficient sequencing of the production plan to meet daily production targets. Hot Metal Coordination: Coordinate with the recycling plant for hot metal supply to meet the production plan for the day. Safety & Quality Assurance: Tool Box Talks (TBT): Conduct TBTs with team members, specifically focusing on molten metal handling and quality control practices. Safety Protocols: Ensure strict adherence to PTW (Permit to Work) and LOTOTO (Lockout/Tagout) systems. JSA Reviews: Conduct and review Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for each activity on the shop floor. Cultural Maintenance: Foster a safe and efficient working culture by addressing issues immediately and maintaining a focus on safety and teamwork. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Breakdown Management: Take direct responsibility for resolving any breakdowns (electrical and mechanical) with the help of shift team members. Melter/Holder Furnace: Oversee burner-related breakdowns and adjustments (e.g., second-stage, first-stage, exhaust, pilot). Spare Parts Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, including cyclic valves, Janatic valves, couplings, butterfly valves, and related tools. Spectrometer Operations: Chemical Analysis: Operate the spectrometer for alloy chemical analysis and maintain standardization for CRM samples. Spectrometer Lathe Machine: Supervise operations and maintenance of the spectrometer lathe machine, including tool inventory and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) support. Gas Cylinder Management: Monitor and manage Argon gas cylinder inventory for spectrometer operations. Inventory & Consumables Management: Consumables Tracking: Maintain daily operational consumable stock and ensure timely reporting. Media Ball Management: Supervise media ball replacement, cleaning, and inventory control. Ensure effective use and maintenance of media case jali and casting boxes. Spare Parts Inventory: Oversee spare parts such as valves, coupling components, and burner assemblies, ensuring they are stocked and available for quick use. Data Entry & Reporting: Shift Log Writing: Maintain accurate shift logs and report any incidents or anomalies during the shift. Data Entry: Enter production and maintenance data into the Level2 and Oracle systems, ensuring accurate records of shift performance, production output, and maintenance activities. OT Reporting: Track daily overtime (OT) and report findings. Work to identify ways to reduce OT costs and improve shift efficiency. Training & Development: Departmental Training: Lead and facilitate departmental training sessions to ensure all team members are well-prepared and equipped with necessary skills. Oracle System Entry: Ensure accurate entry of training activities and records into the Oracle system. Mock Drills: Organize and participate in regular mock drills for emergency preparedness. General Operations: Mold Maintenance: Supervise daily mold maintenance activities to ensure all molds are in proper working condition. Casual Labor Utilization: Ensure 100% utilization of casual labor for condition improvement and 5S implementation in remelt areas. Cycle Time Monitoring: Monitor and report on melter cycle time to ensure efficient operation and process optimization. External Coordination & Purchases: MSO Preparation: Prepare MSOs (Material Shipping Orders) for any equipment that needs to be sent outside the plant. Purchase Requests: Handle purchase requests through the Ekaayan system and coordinate necessary approvals. Material Issuance: Issue material slips for required items and ensure proper documentation through the Ekaayan system. Other Responsibilities: Shutdown Participation: Participate in monthly PM (Preventive Maintenance) schedules and yearly plant shutdowns. Work Permit System: Oversee the gate entry process for new contract personnel and ensure they follow the work permit procedure.
