About The Team We are looking for talented individuals to join the Infrastructure Services organisation; youll be a self-starter, possess an analytical mindset and be a change agent. What Youll Own A Hosting Linux Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux systems and infrastructure within an organization. This includes installing and configuring Linux servers, managing user accounts, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security. Proficiency in Linux operating systems: A strong understanding of Linux distributions such as CentOS, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux is essential for a Linux engineer. Knowledge of command-line utilities, file systems, networking, and security features is also important. Scripting and automation: Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl is crucial for automating tasks and managing system configurations efficiently. System administration: Hands-on experience in system administration tasks such as installing, configuring, and maintaining servers, as well as managing user accounts, permissions, and system resources. Networking skills: Knowledge of networking protocols, services, and troubleshooting techniques is important for setting up and configuring network services on Linux systems. Security expertise: Understanding of security best practices, such as firewalls, encryption, access controls, and vulnerability management, is essential for securing Linux systems and protecting against cyber threats. Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for diagnosing and resolving system issues efficiently. Communication skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for collaborating with team members, documenting system configurations, and providing technical support to end users. What You Bring Added Bonus If You Have Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Practical experience in the role can be used in place of formal education. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or CompTIA Linux+ demonstrate proficiency in Linux systems are looked at favourably.
