- Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy / General Manager with approx. 20 years of experience in process technology, engineering and project management for a large scale chemical plant. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of chemical engineering concepts, operations / technical services experience and project management. This role requires a leader capable of overseeing large-scale engineering projects while ensuring quality, operational excellence and safety, with a minimum of 5 years in project management as well as 5 years in technical services / plant operation. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, basic engineering, and detailed engineering team for new projects or plant revamps for a chemical plant. Oversee the preparation of engineering documentation. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to ensure the successful integration of processes with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation designs. Manage and lead projects from the conceptual stage to the execution stage to meet process requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines. Develop and manage project plans, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely delivery of project goals. Monitor and report on the status of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with scope, quality, and safety requirements. Coordinate with technology providers and detailed engineering contractors to resolve technical issues. Review and coordinate all deliverables from the detailed engineering contractors and ensure timely and accurate documentation. Support the creation of contract documentation, tender analysis, vendor evaluation, and cost estimation for procurement. Review change orders and collaborate with relevant stakeholders for approvals and project facilitation. Oversee third-party inspections, product acceptance, and ensure quality assurance during vendor management. Provide expert technical support to plant operation improvement and revamps, ensuring seamless implementation of modifications and upgrades. Oversee the integration of new technologies and engineering solutions into plant process optimization, efficiency and reliability. Collaborate with the plant operation team to troubleshoot technical challenges and implement solutions to improve plant performance. Ensure that engineering practices and designs are in line with industrys best practices and project execution activities comply with industry regulations, codes, and standards. Ensure a culture of safety and sustainability, integrating safety protocols and risk management into every phase of the design, engineering and project lifecycle. Qualifications / Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in chemical engineering. Around 20 years of experience in process, design, engineering, and technical services / plant operation. With a minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Management as well as technical services / plant operation, including handling complex engineering projects with cross-functional teams. Expertise in basic and detailed engineering of chemical plants, including knowledge of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, system integration etc. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor teams. Familiarity with engineering design software and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SAP, MS Project, etc.). Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Experience in global projects is highly desirable, with an understanding of international project standards and regulations. Willingness to travel to project sites for project review, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
