Job Description: As a Lighting Supervisor at Jellyfish Pictures, you will play a critical role in shaping the visual style and aesthetic quality of our animated projects. You will lead a team of talented lighting artists, providing guidance, direction, and technical expertise throughout the lighting process. Your creative vision and leadership will ensure that our animated worlds come to life with stunning lighting and visual effects. This is a hybrid working position, 3 days a week in the office. Requirements Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure the highest quality of work and adherence to project deadlines Creative Direction: Collaborate with the director, production designer, and other key stakeholders to establish the lighting goals and visual style for each project Pipeline Management: Oversee the lighting pipeline from pre-production to post-production, including lighting design, setup, rendering, and. final compositing Lighting Design: Develop lighting setups and techniques that enhance the mood, atmosphere, and storytelling of each scene, while maintaining consistency with the overall artistic direction Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including modelling, texturing, and animation, to ensure that lighting assets are optimized for efficiency and quality Technical Expertise: Collaborate with the technical team to implement and optimize rendering solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, and maximize visual quality Quality Control: Perform regular reviews of lighting work to ensure that it meets the creative and technical requirements of each project, providing feedback and direction as needed Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and software tools related to lighting and rendering, sharing knowledge and best practices with the team Workflow Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve the lighting pipeline, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency without compromising quality Team Development: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement among team members Qualifications: Proven experience as a lighting supervisor in animation, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in lighting design and rendering Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of artists effectively In-depth understanding of lighting principles, color theory, and composition, with a keen eye for visual storytelling Expertise in industry-standard lighting software such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, Pixar RenderMan, Katana or similar Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear direction and feedback to team members Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently Experience with rendering optimization techniques and pipeline development is highly desirable Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards Passion for animation and a commitment to delivering exceptional work on every project Benefits We're a studio that believes in nurturing a community of talent to create compelling worlds that people want to spend time in.
