Job Description

As a Lighting Artist at Jellyfish Pictures, you will play a crucial role in bringing our animated projects to life by creating captivating lighting setups that enhance the mood, atmosphere, and visual appeal of each scene. You will work closely with the lighting supervisor and other team members to achieve the desired look and feel of our animated worlds, contributing your creativity and technical skills to deliver stunning visual results. This is a hybrid role, working 3 days a week from our Mumbai office. Requirements Create lighting setups for individual shots or sequences that enhance the mood, atmosphere, and storytelling of the scene while adhering to the overall artistic direction of the project Utilize industry-standard lighting software such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, Pixar RenderMan, Katana or similar tools to place and adjust light sources, manipulate shaders, and control the intensity, colour, and direction of light Ensure accurate representation of shadows. reflections, and other lighting effects to add depth and realism to each scene Implement atmospheric effects such as fog, mist, and volumetric lighting to enhance the visual depth and immersion of the environment Work closely with the lighting supervisor, director, and other team members to understand the creative vision and lighting requirements of each project, iterating on lighting setups based on feedback and direction Collaborate with other departments, including modelling, texturing, and compositing, to ensure seamless integration of lighting elements with other visual components of the scene Perform regular reviews of lighting work to ensure consistency with the overall artistic direction and technical requirements of the project, making adjustments as necessary Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and software tools related to lighting , seeking opportunities for professional development and skill enhancement Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, sharing knowledge and best practices with team members, and contributing to a culture of creativity and innovation Qualifications: Previous experience as a lighting artist in animation, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in lighting design Proficiency in industry-standard lighting software such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini,Pixar RenderMan, Katana or similar tools Solid understanding of lighting principles, color theory, and composition Excellent attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment Strong communication skills and ability to take direction and feedback from supervisors and directors Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to lighting and rendering Passion for animation and a commitment to delivering exceptional work on every project Benefits We're a studio that believes in nurturing a community of talent to create compelling worlds that people want to spend time in.
